This novel gives a fresh spin on the Salem-era witch trials by telling the story through Thomas Jones, husband to fiery, outspoken Maggie—the first woman executed for witchcraft in Massachusetts Bay Colony. Instead of focusing only on her, we see how love, loyalty, and heartbreak play out through his eyes.

Andrea Catalano blends romance and history beautifully, capturing a passionate marriage, family bonds, and friendships against a tense 1600s backdrop. A little dramatic at times, sure, but it works. With rich characters, a tragic yet surprising ending, and plenty of heart, this one’s a page-turner for fans of historical romance with bite.

Andrea Catalano is a historical novelist who holds a master of philosophy in historical studies degree from University of Cambridge, UK. Originally from the Boston area, she currently lives in Texas with her husband, children, two fluffy cats, and many, many books.
