About the Author
Jon Nelson writes to give readers fresh insight and memorable ideas worth keeping. A lifelong nature lover, he grew up exploring the woods of New England and the Pacific Northwest before turning to mountain climbing and studying physics, ice, and clouds. His career led to a faculty position in atmospheric science at the University of Arizona, where he joked that ice in the desert was only a few miles away—straight up. Later, he moved to Japan to run a science-journal editing company and discovered a love for popular science writing. Now back in the Seattle area, Jon still climbs and writes.
